Rod Friend - Head Physiotherapist and Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist.
Rod graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) from Lincoln Institute of Health Sciences in 1981, going on to complete his Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy in 1985. From 1998 until 2012, Rod was the Director of Physiotherapy at Clarinda Physiotherapy Clinic when he relocated the clinic to East Bentleigh Physiotherapy Clinic, situated at the Moorabbin Specialist Centre.
Rod has had 37 years of clinical practice and is highly experienced in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal disorders, specialising in spinal, knee, hip and shoulder rehabilitation, both pre and post surgery.

We are a friendly clinic, dedicated to providing professional personal service to all our patients, from young children to senior citizens. We welcome all patients, including Workcover, TAC and DVA patients. We also welcome referrals on the Enhanced Primary Care Programme (EPC) with no gap payment required.
Rod has been the team physiotherapist to multiple Victorian cycling teams at National track and road championships. He is the principal of "Synergy in Cycling" which runs courses for medical and paramedical practitioners in bike fitting and injury solutions in cycling. These courses instruct practitioners not only how to perform standard bike fits but at the more advanced levels, how to bike fit cyclists with disabilities eg amputees.
In his spare time, Rod is an avid cyclist.
Lisa Friend - Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor.
Lisa joined East Bentleigh Physiotherapist Clinic in 2015. She graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Doctor of Physiotherapy degree in 2013 after previously completing a Bachelor of Science degree. Having grown up cycling and running at an international and national level respectively, (and with a family full of physiotherapists) she was always very interested in anatomy and physiology during her school years. Therefore, physiotherapy seemed a perfect fit as a career choice.
Lisa has been teaching clinical Pilates for the past six years and since becoming a physiotherapist, has developed a passion for combining hands-on treatment with Pilates and exercise rehabilitation. She enjoys practicing her own Pilates and yoga as well as running and believes that exercise is not only good for the body but also the mind. Lisa also has a special interest in cycle fitting and is currently working as a physiotherapist for some Pro-continental cycling teams.
