Mr Joseph Robin is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with special interests in hip, knee & shoulder surgery (particularly arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder), sporting injuries of all types and joint replacement surgery of the hip & knee.
Joe has been in orthopaedic practice for 26 years, obtaining his RACS Fellowship after training in Melbourne on the AOA program 1977-80. Following Orthopaedic Fellowship training he undertook further training overseas in Bristol and Cambridge UK and in Graz Austria before returning to take up consultant positions at the Moorabbin Hospital and the Austin Hospital.
Joe is currently Head of Orthopaedic Unit 2 at the Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre, a unit that has as its main interests hip and knee arthroplasty, joint reconstruction and sports injuries.
As one of the first surgeons to start using the ‘Birmingham Hip Resurfacing’ prosthesis for the treatment of Hip Osteoarthritis in young adults, Joe has had exceptionally good results with this in c.200 patients, and is happy to offer this intervention in both public and private hospitals where he operates.
Joe is happy to negotiate fees with all patients especially in cases of genuine financial hardship, as indicated by a GP.
